Apologetics: Debunking Deconstruction – Who Created God?

A very common question that people ask is “Who created God?” We’ve all heard it asked before, from kids and adults alike. In our minds, it’s a legit question, especially since everything around us is created. So, does God have a creator?

The short answer is “No.”

All of this goes to the fact that God is eternal. The Bible constantly talks about this, saying:

“Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” – Psalm 90:2

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” – Isaiah 40:28

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” – Revelation 1:8

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.” – 1 Timothy 1:17

As I defined it in my post on if the universe is eternal, eternity is a state of infinity. It has no ending and no beginning. It never changes. If the Bible – God’s Word – is affirming Him as the being the everlasting God, then He is saying that He isn’t created because He affirms that He has no beginning.
