Well, it’s been a while since I dissected the Quran, so after taking a bit of a mental health break since this book is so infuriating, it’s time to get back to it. On the bright side, today’s dissection is only of two verses of the dumbest logic to justify a religion’s validity that I’ve ever heard. Here are the verses in question (Surah 2: 23-24):
23. And if you have any doubt as to (the truthfulness of the Quran) which We have revealed to Our servant from time to time, produce a single Surah (- Quranic chapter) like any of (the chapters of) this, summoning (to your assistance) all your helpers (that you have) beside Allah, if you are truthful (in your doubts), 24. But if you fail to do (so), and never shall you do (it), then guard against the Fire, the fuel of which will be human beings (who are deviating from the way of truth) and stones, (it is) prepared for the disbelievers.
Other than the fact that Allah apparently never foresaw AI’s ability to mimic anything and everything, this is terrible logic because many things can’t be imitated to perfection. For example, many people have tried to imitate the work of J.R.R. Tolkien with varying degrees of success. Does that mean that Tolkien’s work is the truth from Allah or God?
There’s also the fact that there’s a death threat attached to this because either way, you’re set up to fail and go to hell if you try to mimic the Quran, which would scare some people from trying. This makes the entire challenge even more stupid.
Now compare this to the Bible. Nowhere in the Bible is there a challenge like this because there is no need for one. The Bible doesn’t rely on claims of how amazingly written it is to prove divine inspiration or perfect preservation. It instead relies on logic and critical thinking. It’s a book for anyone who wishes to read it, skeptic or believer.
Until next time,
M.J.
