Blog: Revisiting My Post “Rick Riordan Needs to Keep His Mouth Shut About Things He Doesn’t Understand.” (How the Heck Has This Gone Viral?)

It’s been about three years since I first wrote my now viral post “Blog/News: Rick Riordan Needs to Keep His Mouth Shut About Things He Doesn’t Understand.” A lot has changed since that post. The Israel/Hammas war has ended, Rick Riordan is barely on my radar anymore, I’ve moved on to debating Islam itself as a religion, etc.

But somehow, some way, that post went viral practically overnight last week.

It had been my best-performing post for a while, with a whopping 4-5K views, most of them in 2024. Then it got moved to the second or third best performing post after I started posting about Bryce Crawford and that started gaining traction. But last Thursday, I got a notification that my WordPress stats were doing really well, and when I checked them, I found that this blog had gotten over 3K views in one day, eventually topping off at over 5K.

Then, on Friday, I had gotten close to 60 thousand views.

That has never happened in the history of this blog. My average views per day are anywhere from 100-300. But from last Thursday and Friday alone, I have nearly doubled my views from the entirety of last year. And the infamous post in question now has over 56 thousand views.

I don’t know if I should be worried that someone might have been trying to crash my site because they don’t like what I have to say or if I should be rejoicing because my blog has somehow reached more people than I could ever have imagined possible in the near three years that the Tanuki Corner has been running. But either way, I figure that in celebration of this, we should revisit that post and discuss what’s changed in the almost three years since I wrote it.

To start, in the three years since that post (Riordan’s and my response), the war in Israel and Gaza has reached a ceasefire. The hostages have all been returned, living and dead, Hammas is supposed to be disarming, and the rebuilding of Gaza is supposed to commence.

The key word here is “supposed to.”

Unfortunately, despite the ceasefire deal, Hammas never publicly agreed to disarm and still hasn’t. In fact, it has actually done the opposite, trying to rebuild its strength after the IDF decimated them during the war. This means that not only has Israel been unable to pull out its military or start rebuilding Gaza, but they’ve had to put those plans on hold and ready a new offensive that will forcefully disarm Hammas, which may be even more disastrous for Gaza than the original war. Most recently, Israel has been launching airstrikes in Gaza, with one of them killing 11 people.

Before I get any Pro-Palestine people screeching at me in the comments, just remember that this could’ve all been avoided had Hammas simply agreed to disarm. But unfortunately, Islam makes people do some really stupid things, and when you get a group of people together that think that killing every Jew on Earth will bring about Judgement Day where 72 pre-pubescent, translucent girls will be waiting in Paradise to be raped by them, they will happily break peace deals.

Call me an Islamaphobe, but those are just facts.

Israel and the U.S. also took part in a joint effort in which the Iranian’s nuclear facilities were destroyed, and now, Iran is in full revolt, with the Iranian government committing atrocities as they try to maintain power. Weirdly enough, I don’t see Rick Riordan speaking up for the Iranians.

Speaking of Rick, apparently, in the time since I wrote that blog post, he has not only removed that post (along with the majority of his old news posts) but he’s also bent the knee to the pro-Palestine crowd, who boycotted him. Why? Because they claimed that the only humanitarian side was the pro-Palestine side, the side that sees nothing wrong with raping women and children, burning babies and entire families alive, murdering innocents, etc. as long as they’re Jewish. Thus, he buckled and is now donating to pro-Palestine organizations.

This is what happens when you don’t have any real convictions. Rick, you should’ve stayed quiet when you had the chance.

As a side note, he also went to the Boston Pride Festival, where he looked like this:

Yeah. Nothing like some old guy who writes children’s books for a living and works closely with child actors going to a Pride festival saying it’s “always a joyous time” and that he’s “sending ‘Dad’ vibes of unconditional love and acceptance to anyone who needs it.”

Maybe a boycott against him wasn’t such a bad idea after all.

Finally, because of how many Muslims were yelling at me in the comments, I not only caved, bought a Quran, and read it, but I’m now making posts and YouTube videos exposing Islam for what it is: the deranged beliefs of a perverted 7th-century caravan robber. Congrats to the Pro-Palestine crowd! You are the true creators of the Flippin’ Fatwa Friday series.

Until next time,

M.J.
