After the first presidential debate of 2024, I gave my takes on how both Trump and Biden did. Trump did a good job, managed to keep himself composed, and obliterated Biden who was barely conscious. However, in the months since then, Biden has been replaced by Kamala, a person that no one but the Democrats wanted to be the nominee, and now she and Trump are tied in the polls. That meant that Trump needed to do a really good job pointing out all of her failings as Vice President and hammer that into the American people’s heads. He then needed to stay on topic and actually answer the questions with his plans for the future if he’s elected. That would’ve put Kamala on the defensive, trying to defend the undefendable. However, what actually happened was this meme:

Seriously. That was pretty much the entire debate when it came to the ABC anchors questioning Trump. It was the meme video where the reporter is saying, “Mr. Trump, why are you so evil? You have two seconds” *Trump looks confused. They turn off his mic* “Mr. Biden, please tell us about every way in which you’re amazing. You have unlimited time!” All you would have to do is replace Biden with Kamala and that meme would be an accurate description of what happened last night.
And the worst part? Trump played right into their hand. He chased every single proverbial ball that Kamala threw out there to the point where he barely got to answering any of the questions. He was angry for most of the debate and was so busy being angry and trying to defend his pride that he ignored critical points where he could’ve destroyed Kamala. An example of this was when both candidates were asked about what they were going to do about division in America. While Trump had cited almost being assassinated as an example of how the Democrats have divided America, when asked about race – a topic he could’ve totally destroyed Kamala on because the Democrat party has operated for years on racial division – he hardly answered the question, if at all. To top it all off, he was being fact checked on several statements he made, making him seem wishy-washy.
Kamala, on the other hand, was also terrible, but ABC, being the most pro-Kamala news station, painted her as the hero. She lied her way through the debate (which she managed to do because no one cared to fact check her) and kept her calm for the most part. Instead of going the route of being fiery, she instead tried to appeal to compassion, saying that she had to build her way up from the middle class to where she is today through hard work and understands the American people’s plight, especially in these challenging economic times. While this might’ve sounded good to some people, to me it sounded condescending, almost ringing with mockery.
I come from the middle class. My dad has a good paying job, but we are still barely able to scrape by. Meanwhile, Kamala’s father was a college professor (something she conveniently never mentions in her little talks about her childhood) and the way she got into politics was by giving Willie Brown, the mayor of San Francisco, sexual favors. From there, she managed to blunder her way to the top through 1). Being a woman, 2). Being a woman of color and 3). Being a Democrat woman of color.
Does that sound hard working or honest to you? Do you really think that she understands the needs of the American people? Because all I see is a power-hungry, smug, obnoxious, manipulative witch who used whatever dishonorable means necessary to get to the top. Just like what she did before the debate, I’ll bet that if she gets into office all of her new stances (many of them stolen from Trump, by the way) on things like gun control, the border, etc. are going to go flying out the window and our country will get poorer and even more dangerous than it already is.
Trump may be an idiot, but unfortunately, he may be our only hope in this election.
We’re so screwed.
Until next time,
M.J.
