News: We’re Once Again Talking About Snow White…

Last year, I did several posts about Disney’s newest adaptation, most of them reacting to how the movie looked from images that had been leaked anticipating the movie’s original release date for November 23. The photos were objectively terrible with DEI dwarves shown marching through a field dressed like they had gotten high at the local Rennaissance Festival, Rachel Zegler (who is playing Snow White) in a gown that looks like it was bought at Party City, and that’s not even mentioning the interviews that were thoroughly ratioed and laughed at. All of this seemed to have been heard by the people at Disney, but instead of outright canceling the movie as we had hoped, they moved its release date to spring of 2024, and now has been moved even further out into March of 2025. In preparation for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs release, Disney screened it at their latest D23 event and the leaked footage of it is horrible.

As predicted by everyone who saw the aforementioned DEI dwarves and Rachel Zegler’s interviews, this adaptation was going to be a DEI disaster on so many levels, a story where 3rd or 4th-wave feminism would be put front and center and that’s exactly what was seen in the clip. The leaked footage shows Snow White in the dwarves’ house bossing them around, instructing them to clean their home and whistle while they do it. They dumbly comply with this and do as she tells them, even though in the original story, she willingly cooks and cleans for them to show how grateful she is that they’re protecting her from her psychopathic stepmother.

As if this desecration of the morals shown in the original story weren’t bad enough, the CGI looks awful. From images provided both from the official trailer and the leaked footage, the movie looks like most of it was done on computer despite the fact that it’s supposedly a live-action film. Sure, some scenes are pretty, but most scenes look like they were generated with AI and were copy and pasted onto a green screen. The worst part of it is the dwarves. While Disney got rid of the “magical”, wondering hobos, they made the dwarves look uncannily like the cartoon version to the point where I’m not even sure if there are any actual humans under all of that CGI. Peter Jackson and everyone who played the dwarves in The Hobbit movies and Lord of the Rings are probably disgusted by whatever the heck happened to the dwarves in Snow White.
