Review: Dailywire’s Chip Chilla is Absolutely Adorable (Spoilers).

If you guys are tired of the woke crap coming out of Disney, Netflix, Nickelodeon, PBS kids, and pretty much every other channel and streaming service out there, then you’ve probably downloaded BentKey by now, a new streaming service released by the Dailywire to provide kid’s entertainment that isn’t woke. Personally, I had been looking forward to conservative kids entertainment ever since it was announced (something that helped get me off my butt and get back to writing my own stories), and was especially excited for the show Chip Chilla to air. That said, I obviously had to start watching the show and while I was blocked by a paywall from watching all the episodes of season one, here are my intitial thoughts based off of the first two episodes.

: So. Freaking. Cute.

Fluffy chinchillas? Check.

Good representation of a healthy family? Also check.

Homeschooling? Check and check.

Good animation? Yes.

The episodes are short and well-animated with bright colors that will definitely draw in viewers. The design of the characters is simplistic, but still well-done and in many ways reminded me of some of the PBS Kids cartoons I used to watch when I was tiny (though with much less nightmare fuel).

: Good lessons

When I was watching Chip Chilla, I felt like I was watching a conservative version of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood mixed with some sort of animated history show for kids. In the first episode, Chum-Chum Chilla (the father) teaches his kids, Charla (the older sister), Chip (the titular little brother), and Chubbly (the baby) about the Apollo 11 moon landing by building a space ship out of a box and helping the kids pretend that they’re actually going to the moon. While learning about the moon landing, the kids also learn the importance of responsibility and that your age doesn’t make you entitled to things.

#3: The Acting

The acting in this show is on-par with kids’ shows that had higher budgets. Rob Schnieder as Chum-Chum was perfect and the performances of the other voice actors took it home. Unlike other shows were the characters’ voices are often like nails on a chalkboard to older kids and parents, the characters in Chip Chilla – while childish – do not sound annoying and can be enjoyed by people of any age group.

Until next time,

M.J.

    1. Personally, I don’t think so. While I can agree that it is quite similar, I think that the main difference between Chip Chilla and Bluey is that in Bluey, the kids lead the play, which in real life can have lessons tied in, though parents should be there to guide their kids instead of leaving them to their own devices 24/7.
In Chip Chilla, the parents are the ones guiding the kids in their play, teaching them valuable life lessons along the way. The father is present to help supervise them, which is a good message to young males who are growing up in a society that’s ever more hostile towards present fathers.
However, those are just my thoughts on the show and I thank you for sharing yours in the comments and being respectful while doing so. I encourage healthy debate on this blog, and I’m happy to respond to people with other viewpoints than my own when I can.

  1. Well…if that’s how you feel. I don’t care what you say about me, I still think we all have a right to free speech and debate. I’ll respect your opinion, however I’m not going to argue with someone whose arguments are not even supported with examples from the show and are just parroted talking points from news outlets and social media. Honestly, I would like to know if you’ve even watched the show.
If you want to argue effectively, please do your research and then talk to me.
