News: We Won! Snow White is No More! And We’re Getting a Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie!

After being turned into a meme by everyone, the live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves has officially been cancelled by Disney after clips of Rachel Zegler went viral and Gal Gadot decided to leave because of creative differences between her and director Mark Web. Mr. Web had wanted to make the film an accurate adaptation of the original and didn’t want the Evil Queen to be played by Gadot, which caused her to walk away completely, which obviously cause Disney to lose the main villian of their dumpster fire movie. When Rachel Zegler was eventually fired and blacklisted by Hollywood thanks to the backlash that we piled on Disney, that rang the death toll for the project.

Who would’ve thought that a movie that looked objectively terrible would’ve been canceled when the studio realized that it wouldn’t bring in any money? Weird.

In other news, on October 27, we’re getting a movie adaptation of the massively popular video game, Five Nights at Freddy’s, a game that you’ve likely played or seen people like GameTheory talk about on YouTube. Staring Josh Hutcherson (who played Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games), the movie takes place several years after the Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria had closed down and follows the basic premise of the original games, where a troubled security gaurd watches the cameras and finds out the gig is not what it seems and must survive five nights of terror as giant animatronics try to kill him and anyone there after midnight.

Based off of the screenplay written by Emma Tammi and Scott Cawthon (the creator of the franchise), this movie looks like it’ll be a huge hit in the gaming world, with 32 thousand likes on the official trailer alone and hundreds of theory videos being made to break down the easter eggs shown. On top of that, the movie is produced by Blumhouse, the same studio which came out with Gen Z’s creepy doll movie, Megan, which was incredibly successful and has partnered with Jim Henson Studios to bring the animatronics from the game to life.

Personally, I’m very excited for this movie to come out. Not only will it hopefuly stay true to the very cryptic lore of the original game, but it was co-written by the original creator of the IP and if there’s one thing that Scott Cawthon is famous for, it’s listening to the fan theories, confirming/denying them, and making them canon. With that said, he probably is less likely to flip off the fans with this movie (looking at you, Rick Riordan and Rings of Power producers) and instead is more likely to listen to them and give them what they actually want. On top of that, Cawthon has been the recipient of some backlash in recent years because he donated money to the Republican Party and strongly defended his position, making the fact that Universal and Blumhouse agreed to make a movie adaptation of his work even more of a win for the fans.

Until next time,

M.J.
